About Symposium
Midwest Taiwanese Biotechnology Association (MTBA) and St. Louis chapter of North
America Taiwanese Engineering & Science Association (NATEA) are pleased to announce
and invite you to join our first Midwest Taiwanese Biotechnology Symposium in Chicago
on 9/8 and 9/9, 2018. This symposium proposes to facilitate the communication between
Taiwanese biotechnology communities in the Midwest United States. This meeting will cover
discussions including trending technology, career development, and workplace challenges.
Professionals from both academia and industry will join us to share their precious
experience. Our event also includes networking opportunities to help participants
build their connections.
To celebrate the establishment of this new platform, this symposium presents two
keynote speeches given by Dr. Wen-Hsiung Li, the Balzan Prize awardee and Academicians
of Academia Sinica, and Dr. Hsinjin Edwin Yang, the President of Pioneer Scientific
Solutions, LLC. to share their thoughts and experience learned from their career.
Following the keynote speeches, we prepare three panels covering (1) how to succeed in
applying for faculty positions (2) how to join the biotech/pharmaceutical industry (3)
how to succeed in the industry. Moreover, young participants will have chances to promote
their research during the lightning talk and the poster session.
Through this symposium, we believe that it will be a great opportunity for scientists
in the Midwest to foster stronger connections and help them move forward to the goal.
Please join us. We are looking forward to seeing you in Chicago.
